Thornton Group Leader
WORKING LOCATION:

Eurofins Scientific, Inc., is moving its U.S. Headquarters to Des Moines, IA. A newly completed 6000 sq ft lab and company growth has lead to the need for a Group Leader in Des Moines, IA


SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS:

  • Timely and accurate analysis of samples to meet customer commitments. This includes, but is not limited to, sample preparation for sample analysis, data review and reduction, and providing data interpretation and opinion.
  • Ensure all regulatory procedures pertaining to sample testing are followed correctly, if they are in normal course of work.
  • Maintain neat and accurate record system; keep accurate records of work performed on a daily basis and as required for quality control.
  • Perform Vitamins, Amino Acids and Sugar Profile analysis on food samples using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), as well as other techniques as appropriate.
  • Interact with prospects in order to define their problems and issue appropriate quotes and proposals,
  • Interact and maintain client relationships, as well as communicate the technical process effectively to clients and customer, in order to address their requests and meet the client needs. 
  • Plan resource allocation so that project deadlines are met.
  • Supervise and assist lab staff in making sure that vitamin Amino Acid and Sugar Profile analytical work is done according to established sops and to meet clients and government regs.
  • Train staff on existing methods and any new methods.
  • To conduct method validation of new and or existing methods
  • Create and review reports.
  • Create and review literature for marketing new methods and instrument capabilities to clients.
  • Follow all Eurofins Scientific, Inc. guidelines and procedures.
  • Remain current on technical, industry, and business advancements and trends as suggested by Manager.
  • Maintain a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and coworkers.
  • Promote the company image through the exercising of sound and ethical business practices as related to the public and our customers.
  • Responsible for adhering to all pertinent company health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Food Operations, N. A.
  • QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    Ph.D with 3 years minimum experience or equivalent combination of M.SC. with 5 years experience or B.SC. with 10 years experience in the vitamin analysis field.  Experience with Amino Acids helpful.


    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

    Excellent communication skills.

    Responsive problem solver and action oriented.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Laboratory setting that involves glassware, hazardous chemicals, and others working in close proximity.

    Some overtime and travel may be required to meet laboratory and customer requirements and maintain customer relationships.
