This position will support the overall functions of the Central Laboratory including patient testing, instrument maintenance, and quality control.
SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENTS:
•All responsibilities and requirements of the Level I technologist position plus specialty testing including, but not limited to, Time Kill , Resistance Development, Synergy and some Molecular testing.
•To monitor and provide regular reports of all aberrant results/rule violations to the laboratory supervisor or director as well as present them at laboratory team meetings.
•To assist in the training of Level I technologists or other new hires in the techniques needed to support the business interests of the laboratory.
•To assist the laboratory supervisor in the design and testing of laboratory workflows and antibiotic rules in the laboratory computer information system.
•To assist the laboratory in its endeavors to comply with the requirements of GLP and CAP (e.g. compilation of standard operating procedures, Quality Assurance and archiving).
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
•A sound knowledge of clinical microbiology, preferably gained in a hospital laboratory, reference of other clinical laboratory.
•Ability to assist in the planning and daily management of laboratory based studies.
•Good interpersonal skills to supervise, train and manage less experienced technologists.
•Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
•Flexible working schedules.
•Must have at least 3 years of experience working in clinical microbiology or hematology/chemistry laboratory.
•Must be familiar with in vitro methodologies.
•Must be computer literate.
•Must be certified MT(ASCP).
