Residue Chemist

REPORTING TO: John Reuther

BUSINESS UNIT: Jacksonville, FL

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, perform  chemical residue analyses.     

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Interpret results of analyses and troubleshoots analytical problems

Strong knowledge of gas/liquid chromatography and other residue equipment is desirable to ensure proper maintenance and accurate results

Plan and organize the work load of the laboratory

Perform residue analyses  according to established standards and procedures

 Ensure samples are taken according to current sampling program and distributed to the lab for analyses.

Timely and accurate analysis of samples to meet customer commitments.  This includes, but is not limited to, LC and LC-MS analysis, data review and reduction, and providing data interpretation and opinion.

Ensure that analytical results are correct and that management is kept informed.

Troubleshoot analytical problems and interprets data as required. Calculate results as needed

Prepare standard reference solutions and other reagents.
 
Perform routine Quality Assurance audits to ensure consistency in procedures and maintain the Laboratory QA program.

Properly maintain laboratory equipment and instruments and is able to make minor repairs.

Train new employees upon employment.

Keeps current with new and developing technologies to ensure the most up-to-date, modern laboratory.

 Properly disposes waste materials in compliance with EPA requirements.

Maintain a neat, clean and orderly lab.

Bachelors degree in Organic Chemistry preferred

3-5 years  experience in Residue Chemistry

Must be competent in analytical methodology and possess strong organizational and written/verbal communications skills.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Excellent communication skills.

• Fluent in English is required
