Dr. Michael Russell is the President of the US Food Division. Prior to his current position, Dr. Russell served as President of Eurofins GeneScan, Inc., a PCR testing laboratory based in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Russell also served as a Managing Director of Eurofins Central Analytical Laboratories, a chemistry and microbiology laboratory, where he previously served as President since 1988. In his role as a Managing Partner in The Russell Marine Group, Dr. Russell has been involved with various aspects of sampling, inspecting and testing of international shipments of agricultural and food products since 1981.
Ardin Backous is the Agricultural Products Testing Business Unit Manager and is based at the Des Moines, Iowa laboratory. Mr. Backous' responsibilities include oversight of the Eurofins US Agricultural Product Testing Unit, customer needs, analyses and generation of quality analytical results. During his more than 40 years experience in the feed and agricultural industry, Mr. Backous has been involved in each department and area of responsibility within the Des Moines Laboratory. As Manager of the Des Moines Laboratory, Mr. Backous also handles administrative and management duties, laboratory operational, safety and quality issues and client contact. Mr. Backous is a certified referee chemist for the American Oil Chemists Society.
John Reuther is the President and Lab Director for Eurofins Central Analytical Laboratory located in Metairie, Louisiana. He is a career Analytical Chemist with broad experience in analysis of chemicals, soil and water, food, and geological samples. John has extensive experience in the techniques of atomic spectroscopy, high pressure liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, and ion chromatography. He is also responsible for quality assurance, laboratory audting, LIMS design, and cost containment. John has degrees from the University of New Orleans.
Dr. Frank Spiegelhalter has been President of Eurofins GeneScan since January 2008. He is a graduate of Philipps University in Marburg, Germany, Spiegelhalter joined GeneScan’s International Business Development group in the late nineties when GeneScan’s biotech (‘GMO’) testing business was expanded outside Germany. Spiegelhalter’s responsibilities included transfer of GeneScan state of the art testing procedures and quality standards to new satellite operations in France, Australia and New Orleans, LA. In 2000 Spiegelhalter relocated to New Orleans to manage the lab operations of the expanding testing facility. Since 2003 he served as the operation’s Executive Vice President.
Lars Reimann is Chief Scientific Officer of Eurofins Scientific, Inc. Mr. Reimann previously served in a number of management and executive positions with Woodson-Tenent Laboratories, a food, feed and agriculture laboratory, which was acquired by Eurofins Scientific, Inc. in 2000. For more than 25 years, Mr. Reimann has managed laboratories specializing in the analysis of foods, feeds and their ingredients to determine their safety, nutritional value and compliance with industry standards. Mr. Reimann serves as a Technical Advisor to clients and a number of scientific and industry organizations.
Jules Skamarak is the Operations Manager, Director of Client Services, and Business Unit Manager for the Alpha Laboratories Division in Petaluma, California. He is responsible for planning and development of business aspects for the Petaluma site. He maintains major client accounts and is responsible for general client services including telephone interactions, quotation development, report review, and scheduling laboratory work to meet client deadlines.  Jules received a B.S. Biology from the University of Vermont and is a member of American Chemical Society, American Society for Quality, and AOAC.


US Management Pharma Team

Raymond Farmen, Ph.D., has been appointed President of Eurofins AvTech Laboratories.  Farmen graduated with a Ph.D. from the Indiana University School of Medicine and has built significant pharmaceutical industry experience from positions held at Bristol-Myers Squibb and various analytical service and consulting companies.  Of particular note are the many leadership positions Farmen held at Camargo Pharmaceutical Services, MDS Pharma Services, and Phoenix International Life Sciences.  As President at AvTech, Farmen provides technical and scientific direction for method development, bioanalytical, product testing, and animal health areas.  In addition, he is responsible for general management, technical, and profit/loss decisions for the company. 
Gary Wnorowski is President of Product Safety Laboratories. He has been employed by PSL since 1988, having served as a toxicology technician, Study Director and Laboratory Director until appointment to his present position in 2003. Mr. Wnorowski has extensive hands-on experience in study and facilities management. He is knowledgeable in areas of toxicology and pharmacology as well as marketing, finance, accounting and personnel management. Mr. Wnorowski has attended numerous continuing education courses in the areas of GLP compliance, animal science, general toxicology, inhalation toxicology, neurotoxicology and aerosol research. He has made major contributions to the design and operation of PSL's inhalation facility and is considered a specialist in this field. Mr. Wnorowski is recognized as an authority on the conduct and interpretation of short-term regulatory toxicology studies. Chairman, Chemical Specialties Manufacturing Association (CSMA), Pesticide Division Critical Issues Committee. December 1998-Present Independent peer review panelist, Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM) to assess the proposed "Acute Oral Toxicity: Modified Up-and-Down Procedure (Revised UDP)" July 2000.
Dr. Daniel F. Sahm, Ph.D. is the President of Eurofins Medinet, Inc. Dr. Sahm most recently served as our Vice President and Global Head of Eurofins Medinet Anti-Infective Services where he directed our efforts to support the biopharmaceutical industries discovery and development of antimicrobial agents. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Sahm's research interests have focused on antimicrobial resistance, its detection in clinical laboratories, surveillance, and resistance mechanisms. Dr. Sahm has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters on the subject of antimicrobial drug resistance and surveillance, and has been selected to serve on several editorial boards. Prior to joining Eurofins Medinet, Dr. Sahm was an Associate Professor of Pathology and Medicine at the Washington University School of Medicine and was Co-Director of Clinical Microbiology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Sahm has served as the Chairman of the American Society for Microbiology's General Program Meeting Committee, American Society for Microbiology's Chairman of Clinical Microbiology Division C, and has been a member of the American Society for Microbiology's Meetings Committee for the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC)Dr. Sahm received his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center and did his post-doctoral training in Medical and Public Health Microbiology at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Marc Scantlin is the Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Development. He graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and subsequently obtained a Master of Arts from Oklahoma University. Marc Scantlin was a Captain in the Air Force and was assigned as Section Commander for the 7th Airborne Command Control Squadron at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska and later assigned as Section Commander for the 30th Security Forces Squadron at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. He later joined Kemin Industries located in Des Moines, Iowa as the Human Resources Manager for the U.S. based business units. Marc was later promoted to the Worldwide Human Resources Director for all global business units.
Ralf Fassbender is Vice President of Finance & Accounting of Eurofins Scientific, Inc.. Prior to joining Eurofins in October 2006, Ralf Fassbender served as Director of Finance and Regional Controller NAFTA Region for Siegwerk USA Inc., a leading printing ink manufacturer in the packaging industry with locations throughout the U.S., Canada Mexico and Central America. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration with a Finance emphasis.

Prior to his relocation from Germany to Des Moines, Iowa, USA in January 2004, he was a Corporate Controller at Siegwerk Group International and worked as a Corporate Banker for Commerzbank AG, a German-based international bank.
Joseph Dunham is our Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions.  During his 23 year career in corporate finance Mr. Dunham has been involved with over 100 corporate finance transactions in the health care, pharmaceutical, food, agricultural and software industries.  Prior to joining Eurofins Mr. Dunham held several key leadership positions with entrepreneurial companies including:  Senior Vice President for TeleDirect International, a leading telecommunication software company; Executive Vice President of CareMedic Systems which is a leader in revenue cycle management segment for the hospital market and as Senior Vice President for Equity Dynamics, Inc./Pappajohn Capital Resources, a Midwest based venture capital firm.  Mr. Dunham holds a B.A. in Business from Wartburg College and a M.B.A. from Drake University.
