Software Development Manager

Description
You will work as the technical lead of an international development team to develop an application for controlling and tracking production activities in a biotechnology manufacturing environment. The application is a multi-tier client-server application developed using .NET 4.0, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and related Microsoft technologies such as WWF, WCF, WPF and LINQ.
You will be involved in leading and participating in the development of all components of the application: presentation layer, business logic layer and data access layer. You will also build interfaces to a range of production equipment (e.g. synthesizers, spectrum analyzers) and to other applications using web services, sockets, control files etc.
In addition to working with a team of developers, you will work with business representatives to turn requirements into code, and with a QA team to deliver robust, tested and validated modules.
Technical skills:
- Strong .NET and Microsoft SQL Server skills are essential
- Strong C# skills are essential, experience with .NET 3.5 / 4.0 is preferred
- .NET programming foundations: WPF, WCF and WWF
- Exposing and consuming .NET web services
- Data access and persistence: ADO.NET, LINQ, NHibernate
- Database programming: TSQL, stored procedures, triggers
- Experience of agile or iterative development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum or RUP
- Unit testing using NUnit, MSTest
- Familiarity with design tools and processes such as UML
- Ability to use standard development process tools (source control, issue tracking etc.) to manage your own work effectively and coordinate your activities with your colleagues
Other skills:
- Good communication skills are important, as you will interact daily with colleagues in other countries using email, IM and VOIP
- Previous experience with application development for biotechnology, manufacturing or chemistry would be a significant plus
General:
- You should be able to travel occasionally (2-3 times per year) to other company locations in Europe and Asia if required
- An MSc or equivalent or a BS in Computer Science or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience.
