A Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) is any organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. Polls consistently show that many Americans would like to be able to tell if the food they purchase contains GMOs, leading to more food manufacturers testing for the presence of GMOs in their products.
