Vitamins
Vitamins are essential nutrients for the healthy maintenance of cells, tissues and organs, as well as normal growth and development. They enable the use of chemical energy provided by food and help process the proteins, carbohydrates and fats required for respiration. Vitamins are classified as either water soluble or fat soluble. In humans, there are 13 vitamins: 4 fat soluble (A, D, E and K) and 9 water soluble (8 B vitamins and vitamin C). For the most part, vitamins are obtained by consuming food or supplements.
Eurofins Nutrition Analysis Center provides vitamin testing on a variety of matrices, including food, feed, supplements, premixes and oils. Depending on the expected level, the lab will run the appropriate method. High levels require a USP assay often quantified by HPLC or GC technology, while microbial or fluorometric AOAC methods apply to most standard ranges and matrices.
