On December 19, 2019,  U.S. EPA announced the new validated method for PFAS in Drinking Water, EPA Method 533.

EPA Method 533 measures up to 29 compounds, which is 11 more compounds than EPA Method 537.1 currently supports.  The new method focuses on the short chain PFAS Compounds, which are those which have carbon lengths of C4 to C12. EPA Method 533 also incorporates isotope dilution which can minimize sample matrix interference as well as improve data quality.

Eurofins participated in the method validation study for EPA Method 533. Eurofins will seek all necessary certifications/accreditations which will be required to support EPA Method 533 as soon as the certifications are offered by various states and other agencies.

EPA Method 533 does compliment EPA Method 537.1, which was published in November 2018.  A comparison of the method compound list is provided below.
