Lorena DeanLorena Dean, a recently promoted business development specialist at Eurofins BioDiagnostics, is a world explorer with a passion for science, biology, and people. Since childhood, her interest and curiosity for learning has taken her to explore different countries, languages, cultures, and unique disciplines. Among those unique experiences, she has studied flower production in South Africa, vegetable production in Slovenia, and ostrich production in Israel. Living in and traveling to different cultures has given Lorena the wisdom to appreciate diversity, inclusion, and a good understanding of working with multidisciplinary teams.

“I have a strong passion for nature,” Lorena explains. “I have been captivated by biology since I was a teenager. I have memories of when I was fifteen years old – fighting with my younger sister over who gets to read our cell biology book on vacations.” She carried her love of biology while attending Pontificia Universidad Catolica De Chile to study agricultural engineering where she completed her thesis degree in wheat breeding. Every summer, Lorena worked as a volunteer at agriculture companies and laboratories to gain experience and learn about crop science and plant pathology.

“Doing What We Love the Best Way We Can”- Excellence starts by doing what we love and sharing knowledge with your team.

Following graduation, Lorena continued her career as a global consultant with a biotechnology firm in Chile that served international markets and helped Chilean agriculture researchers and growers uncover new business opportunities through innovative agricultural technologies. Lorena then moved to the United States and earned her MBA at the University of Dallas, TX.

Lorena joined the Eurofins BioDiagnostics team in 2011 where she began in the plant pathology team and supervised the mycology department for almost six years before her promotion to business development. She finds special interest in incremental growth of business and translating clients' insights into meaningful business solutions. Her increasing interest on understating clients’ needs, market trends, and new business opportunities led to her career path. Participating in diverse committees has helped increased Lorena’s network and grow potential business opportunities for our organization.

Lorena enjoys the entrepreneurial nature of Eurofins and the numerous opportunities to grow within the company. She appreciates the innovation, client focus, and fast-changing environment that Eurofins offers. In Lorena’s words, “The great thing about Eurofins is the dynamic, culturally-diverse environment, and the teamwork. The company’s focus on innovation, new technologies, and constant improvement allows employees to be part of a dynamic organization committed to client service.”
