The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced the final compliance dates for Nutrition Facts and Supplement Facts labels to be updated. The extended the compliance dates give manufacturers and producers an additional 18-24 months to comply.

NLEA Compliance Dates (as of May 3, 2018)

Company Size

Over $10 million in annual food sales (>$10M)

January 1, 2020

Less than $10 million in annual food sales (< $10M)

January 1, 2021

The FDA recognized the need for manufacturers to have additional time to make required changes after bearing in mind stakeholder concerns that the original deadlines would lead to increased costs that would then be passed to consumers.

This extension will provide sufficient time to generate and transition packaging to the new version of the nutrition facts label.
