Nutrition Labeling Testing | NLEA

Nutrition Facts Panels are a mandatory piece of information found on almost all foods you will find on your grocer’s shelf due to the implementation of the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act (NLEA). This public law gives the FDA jurisdiction to require nutritional labeling on most foods sold to consumers. NLEA was established to standardize nutrition information found on all food products, and to require foods baring nutrient content or health claims to comply with specific requirements set in place.  Determining what is needed to produce a nutrition facts panel can be an overwhelming process, but Eurofins Scientific can help you with the nutritional analysis and labeling of your product. Our NLEA package includes the following:

  • Total Calories, Calculated
  • Total Fat
  • Total Trans Fat
  • Saturated Fat
  • Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids
  • Monounsaturated Fatty Acids
  • Cholesterol
  • Total Carbohydrates, Calculated
  • Total Sugars
  • Total Dietary Fiber
  • Protein
  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D
  • Calcium
  • Sodium
  • Iron
  • Potassium

Additional voluntary nutrients are offered individually; please contact us for more information!

We can meet your needs whether you require a mock label to review your %Daily Values or a photo ready label for your package design. Our nutrient database can produce photo ready facts panels, compliant with 21 CFR, using the nutritional analysis performed at Eurofins Scientific or your own product’s recipe. Formats from this database include simplified, linear, tabular, supplement, and much more.

Update: New FDA Regulations on Nutrition Labeling

Eurofins can assist with your nutrition testing needs in order to be compliant with the new federal regulations set on July 26, 2016. From the NLEA package list above, Vitamins A and C will be removed and replaced with Vitamin D and Potassium. Compliance is not mandated until 2018/2019. During this transition period, Eurofins will offer both the historical and updated NLEA packages and labels.
