Sustainability is embedded into our culture by creating opportunities for employees to engage and amplify sustainable behaviors. Our innovative facilities were built using green building practices that reduce the environmental impact of Eurofins’ essential work. A few of our environmental stewardship initiatives include:

  • An employee organized Green Team and a Green Lab Team, which are groups of environmentally conscious employees who work together to reduce consumption, encourage recycling, promote conservation and educate the workforce for the goals of improving efficiency, reducing costs and minimizing the environmental impact of our operations.

Planting Trees

We are passionate about protecting and restoring native habitat to promote biodiversity on our campus and in our community. Both the Portage, MI and Lancaster, PA site have company gardens where employees can learn how to garden and plant native species for pollinators. Additionally, employees in Lancaster can support local farmers through the Lancaster Farm Fresh CSA program. This program increases access to produce that is sourced from nearly 100 local certified organic farms.

In 2019, we began our  partnership with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay to restore over 7 acres of land to native habitat through a riparian buffer and a rain garden.

Beyond campus, Eurofins laboratories support environmental non-profits that expand biodiversity across our communities. Employees regularly participate in clean-ups, tree plantings, and educational seminars hosted by these organizations.

Our Commitment to Safety

We recognize that a world-class health and safety program allows employees to be healthy, productive and actively engaged in workplace safety. With a goal to maintain a high level of safety awareness at all levels within the organization, Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories, Inc. has a solid safety record of zero OSHA or EPA notices of violation in over 60 years.

Regardless of this exemplary compliance record, we aim to continually improve and engage our employees in workplace safety. We dedicate resources to implement key ergonomic changes at high-risk operations, which has cut our reportable ergonomic claims in half since 2010, despite a 25% increase in exposure hours.

Our team of more than 40 certified safety committee members participates in continued training, including hazard recognition, assessment and control in laboratories and regularly conducts internal audits to identify ways to improve practices within our laboratories and increase awareness of safety expectations among our laboratory staff. We also have a safety incentive program aimed at engaging employees in workplace safety by offering rewards to employees who take action to report common workplace hazards.

We have a team of over 60 emergency response team members.  They must complete a 24 hour HAZWOPER course, which covers medical, spill, and fire response.  These employees also obtain CPR/First Aid/AED training in-house through trained personnel within our company.

Community Outreach

We believe it's important to be good corporate citizens and help to make our communities a better place to live and work. Employees can choose to support company sponsored and organized events or organize their own employee-led charitable initiative.

We engage with local and national efforts that raise awareness regarding environmental and social issues. A few of these efforts are highlighted in the annual Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing US Sustainability Report.

Employees are welcome to use our campus for good by hosting Community Heroes projects. These employee-led projects fundraise money, collect donations, or organize volunteers to assist organizations chosen by the employee.
