This case study details how Eurofins The National Food Lab was able to assist a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) company in evaluating alternative proteins for their existing dairy-based products.

  • Over 100 plant protein alternatives were identified
  • Time commitment too large

Solutions include:

  • Development of a performance-based testing approach to evaluate proteins
  • Built a database outlining what performed best
  • Reduced trial and error resulting in a more cost-effective and time-efficient process

By leveraging a specialized protein testing plan, a database of protein ingredients with defined functionalities can be built and then used to identify high-potential ingredients and reduce trial and error during product development.  The client was able to apply specific filters and create a short list of high-potential ingredient options.
