Dr. John Henson Joins Eurofins Rapid Microbiology Laboratories as Director of Technical Services
April 2026 — Eurofins Rapid Microbiology Laboratories is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. John Henson as Director of Technical Services, bringing more than 26 years of specialized experience in meat and food industry safety, quality, and innovation.
Dr. Henson joins Eurofins with a distinguished career spanning technical leadership, academic instruction, applied research, and industry consulting. Over the course of his career, he has represented more than 125 companies, advising on food safety, regulatory compliance, product development, production practices, and facility design and construction. His ability to bridge scientific expertise with practical, real‑world guidance has made him a trusted partner across the industry.
In his new role at Eurofins Rapid Microbiology Laboratories, Dr. Henson will support and strengthen the organization’s technical programs, collaborating closely with clients across the meat and food sectors. His leadership will help advance Eurofins’ commitment to delivering rigorous, science‑driven solutions that promote product integrity, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
A Distinguished Academic Career
Dr. Henson is Professor Emeritus at California State University, Fresno, where he served as a member of the Animal Science faculty for 26 years. During his tenure, he taught courses and conducted applied research in Meat Science, Food Safety, and Market Animal Evaluation—areas that have shaped both his academic legacy and his ongoing influence within the industry.
He graduated from Fresno State with a B.S. in Meat Technology in 1990, followed by an M.S. from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 1992, and a Ph.D. from South Dakota State University in 1995. These academic achievements formed the foundation of a career that seamlessly blends scholarship with hands‑on industry expertise.
Industry Leadership & Consulting Expertise
In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Henson worked as Plant Manager of Busseto Foods prior to returning to academia in 1999, gaining valuable operational and leadership experience within the food manufacturing sector.
Dr. Henson continues to work closely with industry partners across the country through his consulting company, Henson Consulting, LLC, where he supports clients in food safety, plant design, regulatory compliance, and innovative production practices. His decades of combined academic, consulting, and plant‑level experience position him uniquely to strengthen Eurofins’ technical programs and client‑facing support.

Dr. Henson’s deep technical knowledge, extensive field experience, and proven ability to guide clients through evolving industry challenges make him an invaluable addition to Eurofins Rapid Microbiology Laboratories.
