Eurofins Launches New “Healthy” Claim Compliance Service to Support Food Manufacturers

Des Moines, IA — December 22, 2025 — Eurofins Nutrition Analysis Center is proud to announce the launch of its new “Healthy” Claim Compliance Service, designed to help food manufacturers navigate the FDA’s updated criteria for the use of the term “Healthy” on food labels.

The FDA has finalized its modernized definition of “Healthy” under 21 CFR §101.65(d), aligning the voluntary nutrient content claim with current nutrition science and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Food manufacturers must comply with the new requirements by February 25, 2028.

To qualify for the “Healthy” claim, products must:

  • Contain meaningful amounts from key food groups such as fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, and protein.
  • Meet strict limits for added sugars, saturated fat, and sodium based on Daily Value percentages.

Eurofins’ Compliance Support

Eurofins offers a comprehensive suite of services to ensure manufacturers meet the new definition, including:

  • Nutritional analysis to verify compliance with nutrient limits
  • Ingredient review against qualifying food group equivalents (FGEs)
  • Risk assessment to identify potential non-compliance issues

“We are committed to supporting food and beverage brands in delivering products that meet evolving regulatory standards and consumer expectations,” said Kristian Lentz, President of Eurofins Nutrition Analysis Center, “Our new service provides the expertise and testing capabilities needed to ensure compliance with the FDA’s updated ‘Healthy’ claim requirements.”
