Understanding Rapid Methods and Confirmations

Combat laboratory result frustration with knowledge!

This webinar presentation covers a background review of how we have come to report results as “presumptive”, the current state of rapid and confirmation testing, and possible future direction. Along the way we will clarify commonly confused testing terminology and build context and perspective around what a presumptive result means for you.

What you will learn:

  • Basis for the term “presumptive positive” in testing, and why we use it
  • Procedures for rapid testing and why presumptive positive results require cultural confirmation
  • How to react to non-confirming presumptives (NCPs)
