Eurofins has supported Department of Transportation (DOT) projects in more than 25 states. Services include waste characterization for sample disposal, water quality testing for NPDES, storm water and TMDL, soil testing and sediment testing in support of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and other river, port and harbor programs.

The law also reduced the bureaucratic red tape that can stall and delay transportation projects from moving forward. The FAST Act adopted a number of Administration proposals to speed permitting processes while still protecting the environment.

Eurofins' network of laboratories is certified in every available state in the nation and is positioned to support infrastructure projects throughout the country. Service centers provide sampling kits and convenient sample drop off locations and couriers are available to pick up samples.

Roads, Bridges, Tunnels, Ports and Harbors

Eurofins Environment Testing has extensive experience providing chemical and physical testing services in support of Department of Transportation projects as well as sediment and dredged material management programs nationwide. Projects have been executed within various state and local transportation departments, US EPA Regions, USACE Districts, and under numerous state and local governmental agencies.

Rapid Results

Environmental projects with compressed timelines, regulatory scrutiny and expensive on-site equipment may require the expedited delivery of data. Eurofins Environment Testing offers a suite of services that assist clients with the rapid delivery of data. Eurofins Environment Testing operates 24/7 in select laboratory locations and departments. Data is reviewed and then reported via MyEOL as it is transferred from the instrument.

Hazardous Material Identification and Assessment

Construction projects can generate constituents of potential concern in both environmental media and debris. A representative sample and sub-sample are critical for any project during the collection, generation, and subsequent analysis of debris samples to minimize the bias and variance in the characteristics of the sample. Eurofins Environment Testing has extensive experience in sub-sampling techniques for a wide range of challenging matrices. Eurofins Environment Testing also offers testing services for lead based paints, asbestos and PCBs.

Eurofins Environment Testing's Comprehensive Dredged Material Management Support

Several hundred million cubic yards of sediment are dredged from U.S. ports and waterways annually to maintain navigational channels and facilitate commerce, national security and recreation.

The regulations for dredged material disposal in U.S. waterways and oceans are complex, and are managed jointly by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and EPA. The USACE and EPA, in conjunction with a number of states, have developed guidance documents to support the decision making associated dredged material management. To support this decision making process, Environment Testing supports chemical and physical environmental testing to aid in the evaluation of the potential environmental impacts of dredged material discharges.

Potential dredging sites vary in their size and complexity. Dredged material evaluations often involve more than one environmental matrix, which can included sediment, surface water, elutriates, leachates, and tissues. Eurofins TestAmerica has extensive experience providing chemical and physical testing services in support of dredged material evaluations projects nationwide. These projects have been executed with oversight from various EPA Regions, USACE Districts, and state agencies. Guided by industry leading expertise and unmatched laboratory capacity, Environment Testing’s goal is to generate chemical and physical testing data to meet project specific objectives, thereby facilitating appropriate dredged material evaluation decisions.

How Can Eurofins Environment Testing Help You?

Eurofins Environment Testing’s 20 years of dredged material experience has consistently demonstrated that the critical factor for project success involves a dedication to pre-project planning, including Quality Assurance Project Plan review, with a detailed review and evaluation of targeted reporting limits for each project. Eurofins Environment Testing has the experience, resources and desire to continue to support each project team’s goal, achieving mutual success in the execution of dredged material evaluation testing projects.

Chemical Testing
Eurofins Environment Testing follows EPA methods and USACE procedures to evaluate dredged material samples for various contaminants of concern. Our chemical testing program supports matrices such as sediments, site water, elutriates, leachates and tissues.

Physical Testing
Physical, or geotechnical testing, is performed as a fundamental part of the dredged material evaluation process to support the characterization of sediment samples. Eurofins Environment Testing offers comprehensive geotechnical services supporting sediment and dredged material evaluations utilizing ASTM Standards.

Elutriate & Leachate Generation and Column Settling Tests
Eurofins Environment Testing supports all industry recommended elutriate and leachate generation procedures, as well as column settling tests required under the Ocean Testing Manual, Inland Testing Manual, Upland Testing Manual and various state guidance documents.
